On average every 3 days, a woman in India falls victim to an acid attack. In a deeply gender biased and unequal society, cheap and easily available acid often becomes a weapon of choice to attack women. In India the highest number of acid attacks against women were recorded in Uttar Pradesha and West Bengal.
