After 1951-52, 2014 Is Longest Lok Sabha Poll Ever

The Lok Sabha elections that are underway, which started on April 7, is the longest in recent memory. The last ballot will be cast on May 12, 2014 - the process lasting over 35 days or 1 month and 5 days or 840 hours! India had general elections spread over one month on three more occasions: 1999, 1996 and 1952. The first Lok Sabha elections in 1952 was the longest, spread over 119 days or 3 months and 27 days or 2,856 hours! The shortest Lok Saha polls was in 1980 - 3 days or 72 hours!
