In 2015, Delhi Had Highest Reported Crime Rate Against Children
There were over 94,000 crimes reported against children in India in 2015, with the highest proportion from Maharashtra (14.8%), followed by MP (13.7%) and UP (12.1%), according to data from the National Crime Records Bureau.
The average rate of crime per 100,000 children was 21.1. The highest crime rate was reported in Delhi at 169.4 cases per 100,000 children, and the lowest was in Jharkhand with 3.1 cases.
A higher crime rate or total crime numbers might result from either higher number of crimes in the state or higher reporting of crimes to the police.
