India incurs Rs 15,95,672 crore on import of coal in 3 years

The gap between projected demand and domestic production of coal is estimated to reach 185.50 million tones by 2016-17. The projected domestic production is 795 million tonnes as assessed by the Working Group for formulation of the XII five year plan for coal. The total expenditure incurred on import of coal during the last three years is about Rs 15,95,672 crore.
