India is home to 30% of the world’s poor children. Indian children living under extreme poverty face poor health conditions; lack of education and discrimination against girls.

India ranks 113th among 175 countries in the End Of Childhood Index. 43 of every 1000 children die before the age of 5 in India. Nearly 39% of children under 5 are stunted which means low height for age.

Over 20% of children between the ages of 8-14 are out of school. Girls in India are the worst hit by poverty as many are forced to drop out of school to care for younger siblings.

At least 23 of every 1000 Indian girls aged between 15-19 are mothers. Poor girls in this age group are 4-5 times more likely to give birth than their wealthy peers.

But India has managed to make some improvement to curb child marriage . Currently, 7% girls in India get married before the age of 15
