83 million voters get set to cast their vote tomorrow for a new 288-member legislative assembly. Opinion polls predict there may not be a fractured mandate. Is Maharashtra set to re-write history by giving a majority to a single party? The last time this happened was 1990 when Congress had a clear majority in the assembly. With both the major alliances splitting ahead of the elections, the contest is expected to be fierce across most constituencies.
