India has 26.8 million people with disabilities. Only 31% of people with disabilities are from urban India. While half of them are literate, they still face a lot of barriers in finding employment.

Prakash Pandagale, Ex-Secretary at The National Federation of the Blind, Maharashtra, talks about the need for equal representation for disabled persons in the government.

"Our issues are very different from other issues - from class issues, caste issues and some other social issues. We have always been neglected so we need a special ministry and special department" he added.
