Most Indian mothers enter pregnancy with poor nutrition. One in five Indian women of reproductive-age is too thin for their height. One in two pregnant women is anaemic, increasing the risk of death for them and their babies.

Andhra Pradesh Government has introduced a spot feeding program to tackle the problem of malnutrition in children and, pregnant & lactating women by introducing a spot feeding programme for mothers called YSR Amrutha Hastham.
