Women perform 75% of all farm work in India and 65% of the Indian agricultural workforce is made of women. Yet most neither own land nor are paid the right wages. It is 1 .4 times less than men.
Worsening farm crisis and migration of men to urban areas are pushing more and more women towards agriculture in the recent times. Between 2001-2011, the female farm labourers in India rose by 24%.
In 2017, the Ministry of agriculture and farmers welfare announced 30% fund allocation for all women farmers in all its schemes.
